Notes

The sweep needs its negative: だれなかった is a sentence,
だれた is not. どれも and どちらも are exempt (どれもおいしい), and a
positive だれも needs が — だれもがっている.

Related patterns

Similar

  • Both can push an item past what was expected, but さえ says so on its own and reads bookish (名前なまえさえかなかった), while も usually needs a quantity beside it to turn scalar — 一度いちども under a negative, 三時間さんじかんも under a positive — and otherwise just adds.

  • The same binding slot, both displacing が and を — は sets its noun apart from whatever else was on the table, も piles it onto something already true, so わたしきます leaves open what everyone else does and わたしきます says someone already is.

Lookalikes

  • 〜ても is this same も standing on a て-form, but the pair concedes rather than adds — a noun before も piles one more item on (あめった), a て-form before it grants the event and carries on anyway (ってもく).

Combines with

  • なにも〜ない is this も on a question word, and the negative is not optional — the frame is the whole なにも…ない, so the ない may sit words downstream (なにうつもりはない) but never in another clause.

  • 〜もしない puts the same も on a ます-stem to deny the action was even attempted (もしない), which is a stronger claim than the plain negative ない and belongs to argument, not description.
